August 10th, 2002 the Mid US Robotics Club (M.U.R.C) held its first Robot Showdown. The event was held in Olathe, KS at the Great Mall of the Great Plains. My wife and I journeyed down from the northern reaches of Kansas City to check it out.
The event ran long enough that we weren't able to stay for the finish, but we had literally hours of fun watching (besides, I ran out of film - I only brought 6 rolls). Great job guys!

As usual with an indoor event the lighting could have been a lot better for photography. Actually, all the motion blur kind of gives you a feel for how things looked live. Frame-by-frame commentary is sparse for now, may increase later as various folks fill in details for me.
